1   Optimal nutrient ratios for wastewater treatment
Author: Michael Winkler. For observing the legal requirements of treated wastewater, the operator of a wwtp has to manage the wastewater treatment process thoroughly to avoid exceeding the limit values. Among physical and chemical procedures the effluent treatment is based on the biological treatment by the microorganisms of the activated sludge. Therefore good knowledge of nutrient need and composition of the activated sludge is very important for operating at full capacity. Causes, consequences and counteractive measures for unfavourable nutrient ratio are described in this report; 8 pages

FAQ
6   PHOSPAHTE - Total or orthophosphate?
In order to determine phosphate with the Cuvette Test, the phosphate must be present in the form of orthophosphate. Polyphosphates and organophosphates are determined after they have been converted to orthophosphates by digesting them with peroxodisulfate. After the oxidation, the phosphate is referred to as total phosphate. - LCK349, LCS349, LCK350, LCK049
  Date: 2005-08-02
7   PHOSPHATE - Can the digestion for total phosphate also be carried out in a high-temperature thermostat (HT)?
Yes. Simply prepare the cuvette for the digestion and heat it for 15 minutes in the standard HT program. - LCK349, LCS349, LCK350
  Date: 2005-08-02
8   PHOSPHATE - What does –P stand for in the formula PO4–P?
–P stands for phosphorus in the form of phosphate. PO4–P is the quantity of phosphorus that is present in the sample in the form of phosphate (PO4). - LCK349, LCS349, LCK350, LCK049
  Date: 2005-08-01
9   PHOSPHATE - Can PO4–P be converted to PO4 3-?
Yes. The determination is the same, but the result is expressed in a different form.
Conversion factors F:
PO4 -P * F = PO4 F = 3,066
PO4 * F = PO4-P F = 0,326
PO4 –P * F = P2O5 F = 2,291
P2O5 * F = PO4-P F = 0,436
P2O5 * F = PO4 F = 1,338

Information
10   10 x COD: a COD range for every application
The COD is still one of the most important parameters in waste water analysis. Both for evaluation of (waste) water and for controling of wwtp. This report shows the benefits of LANGE COD cuvette tests such as: - method based on ISO Standard; - minimized consumption of chemicals; - reliable and approved results;- 10 practice-oriented measuring ranges (the customer needn´t dilute his sample); - only marginal amount of work; - high operational safety; - cost-saving method; - free and professional recycling of used reagents in our certified in-house Environmental Center; 4 pager
